About our food data

Where the nutrition numbers in OneJump come from.

USDA FoodData Central

Food search uses USDA FoodData Central, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s public food composition database. Whole foods come from its Foundation and SR Legacy data; brand-name foods from its Branded Foods data. Food data: USDA FoodData Central.

Open Food Facts

Barcode scanning uses Open Food Facts, a free, collaborative database of packaged foods. Contains data from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License. OneJump looks up one product per scan and doesn’t copy the database.

Meal photos

When a client logs a meal by photo, Assist (an AI model) identifies the foods and estimates the portion in grams. The numbers are then calculated from the databases above. If a food can’t be matched, the AI’s own estimate is used and labelled “estimate”. Clients check every portion before anything is saved.

Accuracy

All nutrition numbers are estimates. Portions, recipes and brands vary. OneJump doesn’t give medical or dietary advice; questions about medical conditions, medications, allergies or supplements are for a doctor or a registered dietitian.
